چکیده
Thin liquid films are ubiquitous in nature and have many practical applications. From biological to the curtain coating process, thin present both large small scales. Despite their importance, understanding stability of these remains a significant challenge due fluid–fluid interface that is free deform, affected by interfacial tension complex rheological behavior. Instabilities often caused van der Waals attractions, which can lead rupture layer. To investigate dynamics, numerical methods commonly used, such as asymptotic derivations lubrication theory or tracking methods. In this paper, we computational study breakup dynamics stationary sheet bounded passive gas with viscous interface, using arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian method Boussinesq–Scriven constitutive law model Our results demonstrate influenced surface rheology disjoining effects character delay breakup, leading more stable films.

On the breakup of viscous liquid threads
A one-dimensional model evolution equation is used to describe the nonlinear dynamics that can lead to the breakup of a cylindrical thread of Newtonian uid when capillary forces drive the motion. The model is derived from the Stokes equations by use of rational asymptotic expansions and under a slender jet approximation. The equations are solved numerically and the jet radius is found to vanish...
متن کاملNanofluidics: viscous dissipation in layered liquid films.
We studied the layer-by-layer collapse of molecularly thin films of a model lubricant confined between two atomically smooth substrates. The dynamics of the consecutive expulsion of four molecular layers were found to slow down with decreasing film thickness but showed no evidence for confinement-induced solidification. Using a hydrodynamic model, we show that the sliding friction of liquid lay...
